Radiant Children - Tryin’ EP

My music is currently reflecting the vibe in London right now. The sun is shining and we are all having a ball. That being said, this EP has sprung to life for me again and it’s one that also brings me memories of watching my favourite show Insecure. I remember hearing  Life’s a Bitch at the end of one of the episodes and I was hooked.

Radiant Children is a group that truly explores the funky soul /alternative sound and this really helps to capture a sunny/sunshine feel. Probably why I’m obsessed with it right now.

This EP is a straight play through, but has some star players. Go Left is a great start and reminds me of the internet/N.E.R.D. That mix between soulful vocals/ instrumentation and all sorts of fun sounds combined is truly what captured me. It brings texture and takes you through a journey of different vibes. The ending is simply beautiful with the strings - chefs kiss.

If you’ve watched Insecure you’ll know the song Life’s a Bitch. The song that introduced me to this group comprised of an American and two Brits. The message is heavy but the song is catchy and fun. Simple.

My absolute favourite song on the EP is Poke Bowl. What a delicious song. Soulful and soul filling. The cadence and flow of the vocals are gorgeous alongside the bass and keys - layered strategically and harmoniously. We also get a lil break down of pure instrumentation, which is welcomed. The amount of times I’ve swayed my hips in the sunlight of my room to this song - yeah I love it!

This EP definitely captures a carefree attitude. If you want to have a fun soundtrack to a chilled Sunday or need a quick dance party where you just want to move your body, this is definitely it. Truly taking it back to 2018.
