Destin Conrad - Love On Digital

After months of teasing his fans all over social media with various song snippets from his album, Destin has graced everyone with his debut album, Love On Digital. This album has not disappointed in the slightest and I can say not only as someone who has been following Destin from the very beginning, I am truly satisfied with the body of work he has put out.

I love that he stays true to himself as sheds light on black queer representation through his lyrics. It gives us a chance to explore a different lifestyle that may not me the norm to us straight folk and also understand that no matter who is in the relationship - we are all going through the same situations and can experience the same things.

The music is truly sensational. Destin truly captures the r’n’b, yearning type sound which he infuses so well with a Caribbean twist and it comes so naturally to him being that his mother is Jamaican (period!). The small pieces of patois added here and there just reminds you that he has some extra flavour and he’s not afraid to show it. It adds another layer to his music and his tone, which is raw in some spots.

I absolutely loved MR.E (kinda sounds like mystery, which I’m guessing was the whole idea). This song is second on the album and one that drew me in even more - being two songs down into an album, and being locked in is CRAZY. I can just imagine playing this on an island and swaying my hips like everyone is watching. Love.

We all got to have a listen to the singles released such as Kissing In Public, which is the intro to the album - a true early 2000s vibe. It’s giving EARLY Justin Timberlake/Pharrell vibes (if you know, then you know). Delusional was the usual Destin vibe - super smooth rhythm and blues and again has that 2000s vibe but more on a Jon B vibe - this was the song this man was teasing us with for months on the clock app and for that I will never forgive him… maybe I do now.

There are some features on the album from serpentwithfeet, Teezo Touchdown, Lil Nas X, Kehlani and our British babe CARI. Now I’m going to speak on the female vocalists! Bad Bitches has really grown on me - I really love it. It honestly reminds me of something from the early 2000s and something that a British artist would put out. That little guitar melody over that bass going and going - it sounds like diet garage and I’M HEAR FOR IT. It’s a sound track for that spontaneous night out with the girls and the video is cute - Kehlani did not disappoint.

CARI from CARI’S HONEYMOON come to the front! Lyrically I loved this and I also really loved how this sounded like a demo. It was raw and almost like you can hear the pain. It slightly reminded me of the summer walk acoustics - it was too short and I needed a lil more, but I enjoyed nonetheless. Miss ma’am is really putting the UK on the map, as we have A LOT of solid r’n’b talent - TAP TF IN!

Love On Digital is exactly what Destin does best - he captures the smooth and sexy frequency of r’n’b. You can hear the maturity in his voice and how he has pushed the softness of his vocals more, it can only grow from there. For his first LP, he has created a very solid project and when he decides to tour, I will be front and centre.
