Latto: Sugar Honey Iced Tea

Latto has been on her zoom lately with all the recent drops, but her third studio album Sugar Honey Iced Tea is by far one of her greatest. She truly gives us a good taste of ATL femininity and all that her southern roots have to offer.

It opens with Georgia Peach which is a great intro and let me know that I was in for a treat. The southern charm of Latto truly captured me and made me want to know more about her and Atlanta in general. Personally, that’s the making of a good album and also a good artist - when the music makes you want to find out more and delve into a world you didn’t really think about. Bearing in mind, I’ve been to ATL but now I’d love to go back and immerse myself in the culture more - Latto you did that.

The album has some great features - Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Flo Milli bring their standout flows as well as the singers Coco Jones, Mariah the Scientist and Ciara adding a smoother texture to the grit of the southern soundtrack. Latto is always championing the girls and this shows through these features.

She provides great story telling, which leads on to a path of vulnerability we have seen Latto exhibit time and time again. Some songs giving us “thank you to my man”, whilst others posing as reminder to not play with her - it’s fun and shows us that she is much more than just sexy. She’s always been a girl and now woman on a mission to make her mark.

I must say that, she really handed us the plate with not even a morsel of a crumb left.
