Single Spotlight: Sasha Keable - WHY

I’m going to need Sasha Keable to come to the front of the class - I’m not sure who gave her the AUDACITY to be so talented.

Since my best friend introduced me to Sasha a few years ago, I have seen the growth and it’s been amazing, however as of late - it’s been spectacular.

If you are someone who loves the blues in r’n’b, you will fall in love with Sasha Keable’s recent single, WHY. It captures the true vibe of what it means to be a soul singer. The way she uses her voice and the jazzy, laid back tones are… I can’t even put it into words.

She performed this on Colors about a week ago, so you should check that out BUT, if you want the essence of the song to touch your soul, you must listen to the studio version.

The layering of the vocals is simply sublime, it’s like I’m being taken to church. Her voice is so rich and warm, paired with various runs and beautifully laid out fluttery strings that add a fragility to the thickness of the beat. NO CRUMBS. PLATE LICKED. The simplicity of the bass brings everything together and the breaks in the music really allow you to take in the message.

You know I’m a sucker for good diction and my word, Sasha just gets it right - singing in italics whilst making her words clear! F*ck off! (Excuse my French).

These are the type of songs that restore my faith in people making good music, furthermore the songs I’ll play to my kids and say “what do you know about this?”.

I’m so excited for her LP, EP or whatever it is she has in store for us.
